Hi ,
        It is a very old & known thing pal & acctually it is not a hacking since to 
do the below things you have to get access to the machine physically else you 
can not do that .

Also the following lines in lilo.conf will pervernt it
restricted
password="passwprd"

will solve the problem but the better thing is one should use grub.

Since any body can log as nornal user & then read lilo.conf to get the
