>From experience - the most successful meets we have had in Bangalore are those where we have a theme for the meet (e.g. "Web development", "performance tuning", "USB devices under Linux", "Digital photography and Linux", etc.). The reason for the success is easy to figure out: 1. Potential speakers have something to orient themselves around 2. Attendees know what is coming, so people who are interested in the theme attend in greater numbers. 3. Greater focus and prepared questions, giving greater inter-activity. If you set a theme, someone can giv an introductory talk on the subject, and others can give more indepth talks. That way everyone gets to learn something.
