this way any comparative statement can marked as personal opinion.
if that is so then making decision will be totally impossible - it will be
total anarchy. in democratic set-up general consensus is taken as the right
one. but in this case that is not needed. i am challenging you to prove the
contrary to what i have said - "GIMP makes logo better than Photoshop" from
all prospects ;-)

at the first place i am sorry for giving a bad example [ there is
open office :) ]. but try to understand that i was talking about software,
not file formats. i have yet to see any file format with IP restriction. as
long as there is no such restriction there will be no 'CHOOTMARG' in linux
about using those formats, provided they are supported by FLOSS [ e.g.
postscript and pdf are originally produced by proprietary software, but they
are widely accepted formats on linux, because there are well supported by
FLOSS ]. text files don't carry any meta information. so no one will be able
to make any guess about the software by which they were produced. but do you
need to use M$Word for writing a simple text file? the whole thing is about
the
spirit of FLOSS and public impression. Those two things are damaged most by
this kind of activity.

may be. but after all that doesn't make things anything better for
proprietary software, for which you are advocating ;-)
