Like I said, this problem is because sendmail is kinda
picky when it comes to reverse DNS. When there is no
net connection on your machine, it hangs, or rather
waits for quite some time to resolve your machine
name. When the net conncection is there, sendmail uses
your ISP DNS servers to find a reverse DNS for your
machine. More often than not, your ISP would have
reverse DNS working properly for any IP addresses it
assigns to you.
