dear rajiv most likely this is a case of ip spoofing.
the interesting point is example.com is a reserved domain. so you getting an email from that is itself a spoof. the 10.* ip address is a reserved ip range like 172.16.* & 192.168.* some one most probably is using a mail server which has been written by him to spoof the origin of the email. as he claims in the mail also. and he is using gmail as it has a large storage space. so sending 1000 mails will not cause a problem. I doubt if the person can be traced unless you can give more information doubt if sify or webel can do anything regards alok ----- Original Message ----- From: Rajiv lodha <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, January 17, 2005 6:15 PM Subject: Re: [ilug-cal] [Off Topic] - Help me to track down a spammer > Thank You Peekay, Alok for your help, much appreciated. > > I dont want him to stop spamming me, instead i want to trace him down, > and give him a call .. just to warn him that he has been "traced". > > No no, i dont have any hard feelings for the guy, but its just to stop > him to continue his activities so that he does not spams anyone else ! > > Alok, as you have said that the ipaddress is of a Router and belongs > to WEBEL, does this implies that the guy is from kolkata, or he is > using WEBEL resources for this ? > > Should i contact WEBEL ? can they help me to trace this guy ? > Peekay, let me know what the Sify guys reply .. > Thanks again for your help. > Regards .. > Rajiv -- To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the body "unsubscribe ilug-cal" and an empty subject line.
