Hi Sandip: The discussions on Book Fair has made me > place > my problems before the group. > I use Words, Excel, PowerPoint and Limdep.
Limdep is not available in Linux, but there are many high quality free open source linux based econometric/socialmetric packages that you can use, compatible with limdep. Try to do a web search for some of these (Sumeet has listed a couple of them, I believe). I heartily recommend that you start using R for statistical programming [check out: http://www.r-project.org] for your data analysis. > May I shift to Linux totally? If Office applications and statistical data analysis are all you do, then by all means YES. Shift totally, never even think about using windows again. Just make sure you have your data well backed up, then pretend that your windows box crashed so bad that it will never again recover. Then install linux (whatever flavor you want) and plunge in. Things cannot be too bad. OTOH, If you cannot live without Limdep, be in the dual boot mode for a few months, and then, switch over... /Arin __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
