Gnome ... I haven't tried to learn if KDE is installable on it through
synaptic. But then maybe you will have to upgrade it to Hoary in April
... so if you can wait for 2 more months, then go for Ubuntu Hoary.
I tried with the Ubuntu given by the Linux Today Jan issue. They have
given an iso image in the DVD, which I copied onto a CD and tried
installing from boot-up. The installation started well, partitioning was
Ok, but while installing the packages got stuck with GCC-3.3. Thinking
there was some error during copying, I made a second copy, but the
results were same, a broken GCC-3.3.
Looks like Linux Today guys did not do their homework properly.
On a slightly different note, I tried out the Ubuntu Live CD (original, from the folks at Ubuntu themselves) that Prosun Pradhan gave me, and I found at least one game not working. Your problem may not be the fault of the people at Linux Today?
