Ok, I am not on that list of contributors, but here goes anyway.

(Basically I have got exams for the coming 2 weeks and have recently
gone through very busy or sick Sundays (and had manged to injure my
left leg as an extra, which is fine by now) or else I would have been
at all those meetings. Btw, Sundays of these months usually have some
competition or the other. It would be nice if at least a few meetings
could be on weekdays. You cant really bunk a hostel event can you?)

ask- 5+ PCs with 256mbRam/cd-rw/any p4or athlon xp and at least 10gb
hdd. 3+ PCs with at least 512mb ram/pentium 2.4/may or may not have
hard disks but should have good fast cd roms (for live cds :D)/ any p4
or athlonh xp. Laptops are cool but not necessary.

ask-ilug-cal banner, please!
Posters attacking specific linux myths. Maybe our pcs can be themed
that way. Each pc demonstrating a different distro and attacking a
particular Linux myth.

ask- uh, a few song and movie cds... Surprisingly the multimedia myth
is still not dead.

ask- don't such people already use linux? :P The wannabes I think are
busy running antiviruses a spybot and an adaware, installing service
packs and ms anti-spyware! :D Lets tell them that they might have no
more viruses or spyware for at least a few more years! Oh and
remember to find a kazza replacement for them.. Limewire, maybe?

ask- aha! Must tell them threes more to this world than redhat 9 and
fc3 and ask them to join up on this mailing list!

ask - They already have a free winxp or 98. Give them dual boot.
[[Long term - come up with an easy to install calcutta specific
distro.]]

ask- Generally demonstrate things that the usual OSs (Windows* and
Redhat*) dont do. Live cds amaze both the expert and the newbie.
Attacking specific myths generates better mileage, imo.

ask - ditto pks. This is very important.

ask- avoid recommending specific comp sellers, linux cd sellers,
commercial linux support unless we have sponsors.

1. GNU.ORG stickers
ask-RMS sent some awesome stickers for the IITKgp chaps. Maybe FSF
would like to send us some posters and stickers, too!

2. Distros
ask- There should be at least 1 redhat based, suse based, debian
based and slack based offering and maybe gentoo. Luckily we don't
have any Freebsd fanatics yet!
       1) Fedora for language penetration
       2) Slack demonstrating multimedia stuff.
       3) Suse Pro demonstrating ???
       4) Gentoo ???
       5) Yet another fedora maybe with another language or maybe
demonstrating the process of installation.
        6) SimplyMepis for demonstrating something having the mouse
shadow and true colour and an easy install.
I think it is vitally important to spend a good time installing and
configuring and tweaking these distros. There effectiveness is vital
for success.
Among live cds, We have Mepis and knoppix and Ankur, etc.
