hello all as per the decisions that were taken a few meetings before BF2005 (participation of which was seen as a pre-cursor to compass2005 participation), saugata was to co-ordinate expo matters
i got in touch with him off and on .. and kept him apprised of the developments it is sad to see almost total absence of interest aside from a few emails in this list .. except ashwin and one more member, no one turned up at the last meeting .. nor has there been any emails enquiring about the meetings or about the need for the meetings for the record, meetings were to be held every sunday 4.30pm till compass2005 .. in preparation for particiaption of ilug-cal in compass2005 no one seemed to take up any aspect of particiaption saugata rightly aired his views raj mathur had consented to come provided his expenses were taken care of by compass2005 this made him a compass2005 guest the lack of any comments/view/initiatives vis a vis his visit is on record in this list at the last talk with saugata, i made it clear that if raj mathur is compass2005 guest, then compass would have to take a stand on how to arrange his visit to my question about ilug-cal's stand vis a vis raju mathur during his visit, saugata was understandbly (with good reason) not clear except that if raju mathur did come, ilug-cal members would meet him too unlike atul's hard bargaining for compass2003 stalls, there were no such moves this time raj had not indicated 'charging' for talks and/or handing over proceeds of talks to ilug-cal in the shape of stall(s) .. so this issue never took off at all my role had been to present ilug-cal's views before compass exec. comm and to present compass's views befor ilug-cal so that participation could happen the lack of support for particiption, especially in view of the questions about the sense in participating at all are understandable .. but the off-shot is that except for a few initial offers for 'talks' .. serious ilug-cal co-ordinated moves were not seen conclusion : 1. compass prez has little enthusiasm about 'talks' relating to linux matters 2. ilug-cal has matching lack of enthu about particiaption per se 3. ilug-cal expo co-ordinator also lacks enthu about participation 4. remaining members are like flashes of interest without a concerted/orchestrated effort 5. raj mathur could only be a compass guest without ilug-cal chipping in as a group in view of these, it is almost certain that ilug-cal will be more absent than present in compass2005 its sad, but this is how things stand my premises is/was/will be available for 'meetings' .. but it already is toooo late to have meetings about ilug-cal's particiapting in compass2005 starting 11th march 2005 since we are already on 8th march 2005 night now only a 'miracle' like development can make particiaption of ilug-cal in compass2005 happen it was a good opportunity, it is almost a missed opportunity lets keep hoping though that things will change for the better ..pk sharma (err .. about raj mathur .. ?? .. would it make any difference if he came or not ? .. with ilug-cal almost not there .. well .. 99% not there ?) ----- Original Message ----- From: "saugata ghosh" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > when he is comming ? > -hizibiz > > - P.
