Sorry guys,
many of these "micro-atx" new boards have only one com port
and a sort of hybrid com-irda-sir header which i have been unable to use as
a com port . Specifically soumyadip - the there are no extra "set-of-pins" on
the board to connect a DB-9 (com) male header. Manufacturers want to believe
serial port devices are all but dead - next they shall eliminate serial & parallel
ports .
A friend of mine had the same problem ( he has a mc prog ) and came
for help - and i dug up a two-port serial port card ( don't remember if it was PCI or
ISA ) - i believe they are still available , should I look for one ? then give me the
board specs and if u have a free slot .

I believe I wasn't clear enough. A backpanel, takes up the cover of a PCI slot, provides one/two COM ports, and has a wire which plugs onto a set of pins on the mobo. -- Soumyadip Modak Mobile : 94330 65971 [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://soumyadip.blogspot.com
