Hello abhishek ,
that's what i was wondering when i saw suggestions
for cd-rom/floppy/flash drive based netboot - we don't want any drives
isn't it the meaning of "diskless" ? ;-)
well you can read this article -
http://www.naos.co.nz/papers/diskless/index.html - i'm sure you can figure out the
rest .
also it's a pain to obtain the correct boot-prom for your lan-card and flash a suitable boot-file and use it . Try to get a 3com 3c905 / 3c905b /3c905c or intel pro/100+ lan-card as these usually have the boot-prom build right into the card and provide a small utility to flash RPL or PXE onto it - some come with this already present - much less trouble - other than that these are "the" No 1 lan- cards for linux for speed / stability / performance - necessary if you are running
a workstation depending on the network only !! Do not depend upon Realtek
etc cheap cards - belive me -i have tested out almost all types of card in real use . I have some readily available with me - drop me mail if you need some .
Other than that just read that URL and best of luck.
- pinaki .
