check if winxp firewall is configured to silently ignore ICMP ping ( i.e invisible ) . also it looks you are new to net-working - it's so much fun that way - the best way and most efficient/robust way to share a DSL or any other type of internet
connection is to use a simple lowly pentium 166/16Mb ram/2 lan cards as a
dedicated NAT/IPMASQ box and firewall for which linux & BSD are well suited.
it's much simpler than it sounds and shall serve you well as your network grows .
a very simple floppy-based linux like coyotelinux ( www.coyotelinux.com ) is
ideal for the purpose - give it a try .

Today morning, when I turned on the whole setup, everything was well
:-). I can now ping from my XP machine (which has 1 network card) to
my FC3 machine (which has 2 network cards). I cannot ping the other
way round and I am trying to figure that out, but now that my
computers can talk to each other, that's pretty good start.
