find myself responsible for that job. in my view the lug is not doing
anything significant towards popularizing linux in kolkata. in fact it
has never been able to organize itself to the required level for doing
so. the lug's activities including the mailing list are managed by some
self-styled leading members, who neither have the capacity nor true will
to socialize with greater masses, for the purpose of popularizing linux.
the lifeline of a lug is its mailing list. but for ilug-cal the
situation is most pathetic here. the egoistic and self centered attitude
of the listadmin and some other leading/vital members have turned this
list into a virtual hell. 99% of the list members have actually gone
into silent mode, and new members follow their predecessors very fast.
for me the list is almost dead and i use it only for getting some
technical information and contact of people who may be interested about
linux. but that scope is steadily dwindling, too. it may be till someday
before i finally unsubscribe from this list.
