Guys,
are u sure about the
quality/usability/running-cost/durablity/comaptibility
of these printers , my experience with Epson, Lexmark(compaq IJ600)
and Canon printers - which I have owned personally - has been very bad
. My old Epson stylus something gave
constant problems with it's head /cartridge and my canon sp2100 had very
expensive/difficult to obtain cartriges . Support was next to
non-existant for
them - let alone "Linux-Support" .
I have since then shifted to HP printers and scanners as well
which i find
are more broadly compatible has better drivers and thus better print
quality
under CUPS . The cartridges are easily refilled ( can do myself ) and
3rd party
"compatible" cartridges are available . They are also faster ( DJ 3550
- very fast )
and simpler to maintain .
Just my own experience though - can't generalise for all
current models .

Thanks for the very interesting post. I have used a HP DJ600 in my
office for many years and was very happy with the performance. My only
grouse against HP inkjets was that the original HP cartridges were
expensive and became gradually more so as the printer became obsolete.
Also, I did not get good results with refilling, self or third party.
You say that you get good results with the refills you do yourself.
That's very encouraging news. What model is this printer?
I shall be glad to have all the information you can give. I love HP
barring the cost of its consumables!
