For epson the third party cartridges are very good at about 100 a piece.
The stylus series cartridges cannot be refilled in general... I did try. The 
CUPS drivers are being replaced with even better drivers. Linux support for 
printers is always good when the manufacturers are a bit open. In case of HP 
they have a linux division... but still they do not provide a linux driver.  
There are still other drivers from turbo-print....Do not install it with your 
existing drivers as you can get into big fix.
