I know a top post when I see one ;) As for the flames, I can smell smoke already. Joydeep you have touched a very sensitive nerve here, a subject which is as close to a linux users' heart as his/her clothes to his/her body. The topic has been debated to death and still manages to generate a fair amount of quotable quotes each of the million times it is asked every year. XFCE, KDE, GNOME, Windowmaker, X, XX, XXX are all manifestations of the most selfish state of the developers' minds. A state in which the mind only thinks about its own requirements. In short none of these environments is perfect. The good thing is that the developers have not (mostly) stopped anyone from changing the behaviour of their creations. Which means that you are free to customize them to hearts content. Its (customizing) is not always easy, but its possible ! gnome has the gconf tool and numorous hidden settings in some xml file, kde has the control center and more settings hidden in an even more obscure location on the kde.org site and xfce has well nothing hidden .. from the developers at least ;) I use gnome, love the kde terminal, like the gnome philosophy, appreciate the feel of the xfce desktop. Take your pick. > > J.Bakshi wrote: > > >Hi all, > > > >Some of you love GNOME and some of you are strong > supporters of KDE :-) > >Why not start a discussion based on it ?
