Dear all,

It is quite interesting to follow this discussion. I am a new entrant to
this group and now I realizes that many people are shifting to Linux. I
encourage people to contact experts in this group to shift to linux.

Me too was thinking about getting trained.

I am putting down my thoughts;

Concerns:
1. People are compelled to choose windoze since most of the people doesnt
have a complete computer system at home; they have to depend outside shops
for taking printouts, scanning etc.
2. Most of the people use computer for DTP, from drafting letters to
correcting digital pictures to make printouts. The major block we are
facing from the small scale computer centres and printing press.
3. People still are unaware of scope of Linux in day to day life.
4. Most of the people who already have computers at home or work will be
least interested in attending classes to learn a new thing. (They might have
suffered learning windoze already!)

Going directly to organize training programmes may have to face risks for
the above reasons.
To enthuse more people to choose linux, I think a series of demonstrations
have to be planned which should not be longer than a half day.

For example, if somebody can give a demo on GIMP and Scribus by through
comparing them with photoshop and pagemaker, which will enthuse people to
shift to linux and learn more. Like wise different demos have to be
designed and implemented. A registration fee can be charged from
participants.

This will give a clear idea about what people want to learn and who are
they? Based on this experience a syllabus can be designed.

These demos will generate ideas for training as well as demand for training.

The target groups can be;
1. DTP operators
2. Graphix designers
3. Video Editors and Studios
4. Programmers
5. Internet cafe's
and so on.

love and peace
