Check with XYZware that whether they could provide a mailing list too. Currently, they are hosting the site and its not that hard to setup a mailman list. We can look for alternate methods after knowing their reply, if planning to implement mailman.
Mail alerts from forums are good to stay updated, but still, to post you have to login to the forum. Just replying to mail will be much more easier.
