Dear Friends,
I observed from the discussion forum messages, many persons who tried Ubuntu
Karmic Koala reported problems.

A school teacher cum librarian requested me to install Linux in his system.
He need a virus free user friendly non Microsoft OS.

Can I suggest Karmic Koala for his purpose?
Karmic Koala make problems while working?

Hi Vimal
Before giving any advice , let me tell you about my experience , one of my
college wanted to try out Linux because of the constant problems he faced from
XP (Virus) . He is a multimedia expert , he uses XP to convert one media type
to another .His wife who is a teacher could not /will not try to use Linux , In
this case I spoke to him about Virtual environment , He agreed to give a try .
Did a fresh installation of 9.10 , installed virtual box , in virtual box I had
setup XP , with MS office + AV installed
Then I google for blog site which says what are the best steps to be taken
immediately installing 9.1 . Following this I got a good choice of multimedia
related programs .
The initial stage for my friend to use Linux for the first time was
quite difficult, to make him understand about virtual environment was a tough
task . But at present He is happily working in Linux , He knows now to use
synaptic to find programs for multimedia ripping
Now I am giving more inputs about the educational software available in Linux
, I am sure slowly his wife being a teacher will like the idea and try to use
Ubuntu

My Advice :- U should try giving Karmic Koala to your friend
Thanks
  Joseph John
