What anivar was asking for were not replacements for professional
tools. Tools for everyday usage == Playing music and video. Viewing
pictures, download managers, word processors and presentation
applications.. all these  are available on most distros. No need for
wine for any of them .

If you are familiar with software engineering terms, RC is release
candidate i.e) release quality software, just before RTM . From
wikipedia

" The term release candidate (RC) refers to a version with potential
to be a final product, ready to release unless fatal bugs emerge. In
this stage of product stabilization (read QA cycle), all product
features have been designed, coded and tested through one or more Beta
cycles with no known showstopper-class bug."

I still think Linux Mint 8 RC is one of the nicest distros for a newbie.
