@Vipin, There are a number of Linux distros as you mentioned. It is harder
to select one of them for using... But I'll give you some guide lines for
choosing a Distribution. If you are using Windows currently and need using
Linux for the first time...

   1. Linux Mint - Contains all the codecs and a fresh look and feel.
   2. Mandriva One - One of the tuned os like Mint

If you are connected to internet, you can use any of these distributions for
you purposes like Video editing, and a gaming. As you know gaming will not
be as good as in Linux but you can use them with the help of an windows
emulation layer like Wine or Cadega. But using such emulators are not not
suggested. You can have native Linux games in any distro.
Yumex,Yast,Synaptic and Kpackagekit are the typical examples of GUI software
management tools based on distros and desktop environments, if you are not
familiar with cli(command line interface). You can download and install
native Linux softwares from the software mangement tool. In case of video
editors, there are a number of softwares, but I found KDENLIVE suits best
for my kind of usage...Search the software management tool for kdenlive or
here is the link : http://www.kdenlive.org/

Regards to all...
