No one here argued for contributing to SMC. SMC is yet another
community like several other Free Software communities. The reason why
I cited SMC as an example is that it has so many local members who may
be contacted via phone or personally and it would be easier for
beginners to work with them.

Jeevz:
It may be nice if you could understand the complexities of being a
successful community project and learn them before tossing your idea
for development. Just do a search in sf.net for "Traffic Monitoring"
and you will get more than 2000 results (half of which may be
irrelevant and half of the relevant results will be already projects).

The best approach is to do an analysis of the existing projects, their
features and find if the idea envisaged by you is already initiated by
someone else. If yes, then probably you can start contributing to
their project, otherwise submit an application for a new one with
proof of concept to one of the FOSS hosting sites(sf.net, google code,
ohloh, github, assembla, etc..)

I don't think that simply putting up your profile and arguing for
something will work in any way. If you want others to join, then
probably you should start working first.

May be nice if you read this
