Most of the people on this list have used proprietary software, one way or other, at one time or another :D So, if prop software is on-topic if you want to diss them, then surely they should on-topic if you want discuss how good some of those software are from a technical standpoint; and sometimes, as friends, we might even help with whatever little information we have. I only run VMs of Windows XP (just to do testing on IE6/7/8), and I don't have the first clue about it. But I sure as hell am asked to resolve random problems for various people.
