Nishandh,

OK, lets make it user friendly, are you game?

I think the first step is to identify specific policy issues. Just
saying it ain't user friendly, isn't enough. I could see we already
have one use case.

1. Handle ntfs drives easily.

So I thought I will try with my USB drive, it is vfat. So I want to
format it to ntfs. Here goes our use case 2.

2. Format drives with a right click from file manager.

Lets take this a pilot case. How can we fix these two?

Option 1 - keep saying Linux is not user friendly and hope someone would fix it

But how would the dev know of specific issues? This is so silly won't
they already know?

Well, if it ain't broken, don't fix it?

But is isn't it already broken? Show us the bug report. Now I agree it
is not an easy task for newbies to report bugs. So how do we fix this?
I guess they are OK to mail it here - or someone who knows the issue
can mail it here.

Now how many here can volunteer to report bugs? I can help those who
are interested, I know there are others who can help too. Just raise
your hands if you want to help with filing bugs.

Now is even more difficult task, what if they don't respond to the
bugs? Well, we have to fix it ourselves. Again we need people to
volunteer. There will be help to get started and understand.

We will track this project here
http://www.fosscommunity.in/wiki/If_linux_needs_to_be_adopted_by_desktop_users,_it_needs_to_be_much_more_user_friendly_%28nobody_argues%29

If anyone is interested to give a shorter name, that is fine too.
