Freedom is the keyword. If they use proprietary tools to create their
magazines, its their choice. Just as we have the choice of using a
proprietary of Free Software, they too have that freedom. What this
actually points to is the lack of proper tools ( tools that _they_
need , not what _we_  think they need ). Why dont we just use Free
Software and not try to _make_ others use it ? Its a choice that
people have to make for themselves, not thrust upon them. We should be
promoting it by explaining why GNU/Linux good in the common scenarios
rather than thrust it upon everyone regardless of whether it works for
them or not.
