Well you have to agree when it comes to picture editing and video editing Mac is a dream. It not just because of just OSX, but because of software+ hardware combination. Apple controls the hardware which runs the OS. Canonical do not design the hardware to run Ubuntu on, so it is hard for Canonical to optimize the software to the hardware you run. Even Microsoft runs linux when they need security .
It is horses for courses. People use the software they are trained in. and comfortable with. Lot of people tried linux in the late 90s and early 2000 and turned away because of lack of hardware support and usability. Lot of them will never try it again because of their experience. Usability has improved a lot in the past few years because of canonical. How I wish windows and OSX were opensource :-) -- "Freedom is the only law".
