I have been having similar issues, but could zero it to Overheating as
hardware and RAM tests were ok. When my laptop was overheating, no
matter how many times I rebooted it, it still crashed with blinking
Caps-Lock and I had to manually power off and restart.

But one weird thing I noticed here is that, the laptop never failed to
crash in the GUI mode when overheating. But when I used one of the
consoles (Ctrl+Alt+F1-F6) it didn't crash at all. But when I tried to
return to the GUI, it promptly crashed. Could there be any
explanations for this?
