I cannot think of a better distro than Ubuntu/Mint to give to some noob friend of mine. Fedora was on my list because of aesthetics. But it looks like Fedora does not, unlike ubuntu, give you a 1 click way of adding mp3 codecs etc. And Ubuntu is quite stable. Do you expect them to run Debian Lenny? Ubuntu is good for newbies since they have a community of them. Any person in #debian asking about something very simple like how to query a package will get an rtfm While Ubuntu may not be the best distro for the hardcore Linuxers, it is a good starting point. -- Ashok `ScriptDevil` Gautham _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, email [email protected] with "unsubscribe <password> <address>" in the subject or body of the message. http://www.ae.iitm.ac.in/mailman/listinfo/ilugc
