I have never been a GNU/Linux user. I have always been a linux user since 1995. I can find my way around kmail - but it does have it's quirks > > You still keep hopping distros and start doing this > 1) criticize the last distro you used > 2) glorify the next one > 3) Repeat 1..2 for eternity without realizing that you are actually not > getting anywhere. I have used redhat (from 4.2) from 1995 to 2003. I got fed up with it in 2003 when redhat 9 came out. It was terminally b0rked, so I shifted to Mandrake/mandriva which I have used from then and still use. I was asked to try ubuntu, and put it on my desktop for about 9 months but found it totally unusable. Sorry. My current mix - debian lenny for the servers I maintain. Mandriva 2009 for my wife and kids and other non IT folk. FC10 for my laptop as I need to run mapnik on it. and, on my office desktop, I run Sabayon. > > Ah... Replace bash by ipython. my main focus is to get more Indians to contribute to FOSS. Without a VCS, or knowledge of what a VCS is, contribution to FOSS is meaningless. My post on mercurial was not flame bait - it was meant to encourage would-be contributors to FOSS to learn about DVCS. Believe me, knowledge of things like this are part of the door opening to acceptance in GSOC. > > And I have one last question. What did you start this thread for?
