No the site has nothing to with Jaya Engineering college folks. It is

who is he?

From the archives, chennailug.org seems to be maintained by Balachandar Muruganantham. I'm not sure who owns ilugc.in, though. I've already raised this issue once. Right now, we don't need something as heavy-weight as durpal to run the site.

As a few people have already suggested on this site, we can go even with simple static html pages for the required info to go up. These can sit in a public svn/git repo until somebody thinks it's good to go for a wiki. But I really don't think we'll need a wiki - how hard is it to check out an svn repo with static html files, fix it, commit it, and have a moderator deploy the latest revision?

If we can get hold of the guy(s) who has either chennailug.org/lugc.in domain control and move it to somebody who's more available/involved with the community (or perhaps transfer it to NRC-FOSS?), we can easily setup a vps (I'm sure we can easily contribute to the $20 USD per month it takes to rent one) and get things moving. We can even setup the planet software that SK has been requesting for a long time.

Vamsee.

P.S: Perhaps the time has come for ILUGC to setup a legal entity so that donations/funds can be managed properly, but this is a much bigger topic, so perhaps we should get the site going first and then get into this.
