You are absolutely right. 
On the other hand today's requirement in Indian software industry is such that 
you don't need any great software skills or brains. The work that the 
westerners hate to do is outsourced to india due to cheap labour. which is 
unfortunately hyped up by the software giants. You can use a 10th or 12th std 
qualified student for nearly 75% of the tasks that is being done by a BE in big 
software companies in india.
