i've faced similar problem..but on redhat 8.0
1. cross check if the card is working on other operating system.
2. card is detected properly
(/etc/sysconfig/hwconf can tell you about your card.....Mandrake 9.0 has
kudzu???)
3. if card is supported by xawtv
