i had a strange problem, but only erraticaly. if i click on the K menu,
the system seems as if it is frozen. a few clicks arounhd, or even the
ctrl+alt+d shortcut, that 'shows desktop' suddenly seems to cure it of
this.

but KDE is a kludge on slower machines, so you need to tweak its
settings to optimize it on your pc.

am gonna try this one and check.
btw, have you seen how beautiful the font rendering is, under the new
freetype and its associated soup. it beats the hell outta windoze or
even macintosh.

fyi, i did some digging around on the freetype2 site, and discovered,
that freetype is the only font-renderer that handles 255 levels of gray
for anti-aliasing. according to the site, win for example does about 5
to 8 levels.

i installed the experimental bleeding version of pcqlinux, so could
check out the high-end tools like video-edit software and stuff. pretty
cool.

just installed scribus 1.1.5 on it. man! this rocks!
