This has been on my dream-list for long. What does our group think about the idea of a contributary, co-located server for members (and others who would like to join)? Some thing like by-us for-us. We configure and run it so we can have all the services we want running on it. The most immediate need is for smtp-auth. I, for one, am willing to invest my time in maintaining/setting it up, and (a humble amount) of money to keep it going. In order to work, an idea like this would need people enthu enough to contribute and use it and perhaps a few generous sponsors.
