There are serious problems with openoffice packages in ubuntu repositories. For example, the form wizards in openoffice base do not work. It is a known bug in the Feisty Fawn repositories which the openoffice package maintainer in the ubuntu team has decided not to attend (rather insensitive, if you ask me) because the problem has been attended to in the next release (due in October). The suggested solution is to download openoffice rpms, use alien to create debs, and then install using dpkg. Not an elegant solution and a big comment on Ubuntu's package updating policies.
