The "generic" GNU/Linux meets are no longer passe. So does generic LUGs. > Of course, all of this is subject to change, and I would love to > see proposals for making the LUG gain some of the vibrancy that > this list has, for example. The LUGs should now move to provide umbrella for more specialist interest groups like Python, PHP, C/C++, RoR, Databases, Cloud Computing, Security, Application specific software stacks, Policy and evangelize related topics and such. The LUGs ideally help these special interest groups formed and flourish under LUG umbrella to keep the community unified and still serve larger interest of FOSS. This also included smaller institution specific LUGs like LUGs in colleges and other institutes. What they lack is experience in conducting the focused activities within their domain but make up for it by row power and enthusiasm. The regional LUGs should fill that gap of lack of experience in help organizing and nurturing those smaller LUGs. > Please do post your inputs on this, and we will see how to take > things forward.
