If you are looking for replacing grub, then
-boot the system with Ubuntu live CD
-mount no other media device than your ubuntu root partition
-run $sudo grub-install
--root-directory=/media/0d104aff-ec8c-44c8-b811-92b993823444 /dev/sda
(Of course, the device ID can be different with your case)
-reboot
