It's a probably related to acpi and the 8042 interrupt controller conflicts. Might work if you edit your grub configuration file . It is /boot/grub/menu.lst on ubuntu and append the following line to the kernel argument. locale=fr_FR i8042.reset NOTE: Add it to the end of the "kernel /vmlinuz-....." line after "splash" and NOT as a separate line in the grub. Would also suggest you backup the grub file before making changes. Rgds, Partha ..........................
