Thanks to Sandip I am now a proud owner of RH 8 and Knoppix CDs. But I seem
to have run into
problems.

Problem 1:
I was able to boot off the RH 8.0 CDs only after 5-6 attempts. After a
couple of screens the install offered
to test the CDs which failed all of them. It (the install) failed when I
tried it again without the check.
Attempt to boot off the Mandrake 8.0 CD also threw sig11. And attempt to
boot off Knoppiox also bombed.
I thought that it's unlikely that all of them would be bad. But the same
system boots off and installs
RH 6.2 (also a copied one) and Debian (Potato) cleanly. I wonder what could
be wrong.
Any clues?

Problem 2:
Distro: Debian Potato
dselect fails with - "/var/lib/dpkg/available entry invalid in this context
Status: line 2: package: telnet".
Is there a way one can retrieve/rebuild the "available" file.

TIA,
-- Manish
