Mr. Tosh,
There is nothing moot about it. Steve was playing his "I don't have a lot
to show" so we'll showcase all that's going on with OS X. He had a tirade
when his camera that didn't work among other things. He was clearly
disappointed that this show wasn't his "normal" dog and pony show. I
actually think this is good for Apple in the long run, because it might
quell the crazy rumors about 17" iMacs, flat panel iMacs (absurd for now),
I Gig. Mhz machines, etc., etc. People might begin to expect less at a
show and pay more attention to wonderful machines like the Titanium and the
very cool and nicely priced iBook (drool).
You see I love Apple...I just want someone to tell me if Apple has done
this before...and don't start with the Up-To-Date program because that's
been there, but downloads have been there as an alternative as well. When
has Apple not had a download for a "free" upgrade since the net became
popular....like in the last 5 years. In my mind ... never!
I'll have no problem downloading OS X.1 from Apple or anywhere else as I
paid for OS X. I really don't care who distributes it to me. I just hope
Apple is smart enough to have a "key" in the program that won't allow the
average user to download and install it without having OS X.x already. I'm
sure as heck not going to worry about hackers or other pirates as I have no
control over them...just like I have no control over you Mac.
