But Shawn, darlin', Apple is maintaining that the update is free but
that they need to charge for the manufacturing of the CD. So how oh
how is it stealing to download the software from another source? Is
it not far better for the environment that software remains soft?
Do you really think that Apple isn't counting on the binaries
newsgroups to distribute the update for them so that they don't have
to upgrade their servers for the massive crush that would hit on
release? Get real. How many of those early releases of OS X that hit
the same newsgroups were actually leaked by Apple themselves to get
massive numbers of beta testers?
Of course publicly you have to be against the newsgroups -- but who
knows who lurks behind many of the anonymous nics? In the case of
this latest OS X update, there is no theft.
