Pressing commercial CDs is rather more expensive than burning CDRs.
You also have to consider wages for workers who are doing the
pressing, postage, and similar items.
We distributed CDR to clients who needed "hard copy" of their
documents. It cost $1.05 for the media itself at the time. When we
factored in the fact that it took me about and hour and a half to
gather the docs, build the images, get confirmation that I had
everything, and burn it... it cost my department an average of US$25
to have me burning CDRs for clients. We had one specific client that
we sent enough copies of the same CDs that we had commercial CDs
pressed and mailed, rather than doing CDRs 1 at a time... this only
brought our cost down to US$20 and change.
Just my US$0.02.
