My husband's happy with his new G3 600 Mhz, bought open-box as Circuit City cleared out its demos. The speed of both iMovie and OS X is satisfactory for him. And he's a Unix geek used to working with Suns (and has a brand new Dell laptop at work).
This doesn't mean the new iMac wouldn't be way neater and somewhat faster (esp. in the OS) - but he wouldn't have gotten a $1200 (or is it $1300) *impulse-purchase* Christmas present as he did an $850 one. For the price we're very happy - I don't think the G3s are a bad deal at all, if you look for the deals (Small Dog or Apple's refurbs, maybe??). I don't know if this helps at all :-) Anne -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
