I recently upgraded to 320 M ram in my Rev A. I now leave Virtual Memory off and it runs great. With virtual memory on, QuickTime movies and such would skip etc. Not any more. I have noticed that the memory that MacOS uses jumped to 65-75 Meg in size. I downloaded an app called memory mapped just to see what was there. So here's the question:
What is System Heap? And what does it do? Why does the Finder JUMP 10 meg in size after launching certain apps (Like OE)? How can I see, individually how much memory each extension uses? More Spanish Inquisition on Memory use later. Thanks John Belen -- Once you go iMac, you never go back!!! -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
