I have noticed that the memory that MacOS >uses jumped to 65-75 Meg in size. I downloaded an app called memory mapped >just to see what was there. So here's the question: > >What is System Heap? And what does it do?
The system heap is where a lot of things live. I believe Extentions and the system call the heap their home. >Why does the Finder JUMP 10 meg in size after launching certain apps (Like >OE)? Whoa! Now that's ususual. It could be a memory leak of some sort (i.e. i had a app that would slowly choke off the machine by dumping something in the heap and not taking anything out) >How can I see, individually how much memory each extension uses? TechTool Light can show the memory requested of the heap for all extentions installed. ~Lord Gilman _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
