Sorry, to hear that you've had such a hard time with EarthLink. I 
haven't had much need for their live tech support, but their online 
information for the Mac is the best I've ever seen from an ISP.

I don't use OS X, so I can't give you the specifics for doing this, 
but this EarthLink page should have everything you need 
<http://help.earthlink.net/techsupport/mac_os_x.html>. Hope it's not 
too late.
