Hi,

Is this supposed to be so hard, or am I missing something?

My father decided to take advantage of Earthlink's trial deal.
He turned the Mac on for the first time, and started on the Setup
screen. After inputting all his info, it dialed up Earthlink and
then wouldn't take his credit card. He called them up and they
decided it was because of the middle initial on his credit
card, which isn't asked for on the Setup screen.

Then it wanted his local dialup number. Why can't
Earthlink look this up itself? So then we had to call
and get that. And then we had to call and get the mail
server info.

Then Earthlink says we'll have to separately configure PPP which
makes NO sense. Is this right?

In OS X is it called PPP again, not Remote Access?

Any thoughts? When I go back to my Dad's house tomorrow,
am I going to have to open PPP and TCP before he can dial up?
