Boot with shift key held down to omit the extensions. If that brings up
the desktop, then you've got an extensions problem in the system folder.
Go to Extensions Manager and switch to OS All (instead of "My Settings")
and reboot. If that works okay, then it is the new extension the kid installed.
Go back to Ext. Mngr. and switch to "My Settings" and go through them,
carefully checking anything that looks new or feels odd. (I switch the
View to "Items" so everything is in alphabetical order.) Once you find
the troublesome ext or control panel, UNCHECK it and reboot. If the
computer comes up okay, that was the culprit. Try to live without it.
Or, more troublesome but perhaps worthwhile, duplicate the OS ALL
settings and add only that particular extension and see if that works
ok. Chances are, it was fighting against something else, and by
simplifying the other extensions that load, you may be able to use the program.
