Did you see this problem before you bought your iMac? Is it better or
worse at different screen resolutions?

I'm running OS X (occasionally) on my TiBook, and I don't have any
problem with fuzzy/blurred text -- except for a few really atrocious
fonts. Silk really helps things when running Carbon apps.

Does this problem exist when you run OS 9, which might indicate a
hardware problem, or only under OS X?

If the problem were specifically with OS X, you'd think the world would
be up in arms. Instead, most X users seem quite happy with the way text
is rendered on their displays, whether laptops or desktop machines.
