No, I was just dazzled by the new iMac design and the beautiful graphics on the flat screen monitor. When I got home and started working on the computer the blurred text became obvious

Those of us who are complaining about this may, in fact, share similar eyesight problems. I don't know. Personally, i am VERY nearsighted with heavily corrected vision with my glasses, including, of course, the use of bi-focals. When i go to sites promoting this or that smooth type or clear type or anti-aliasing 3rd party software gizmo, they often show examples of "before" and "after" and I DON'T like the "after" examples at all (the "before" examples are pretty crappy too. Maybe some of us just hate the "type-smoothing" approach to coming up with ways to make fonts appear better on computer screens. Sometimes think it's maybe just an attempt to avoid a real fix to the problem of text clarity. Certainly, it helps in Windows that the user has MUCH more control over the look of system fonts: type of font, size, color, etc., etc. Something that would help us a lot, I think, from the rest of you who are having no problem with this is for you to share with us what fonts work best for you in today's new and improved text smoothing environment. What works best for you in the following categories: Serif fonts? Non-Serif? Fixed widths? Proportional widths? Thanks for helping. I think I will be able to tweak things eventually so that the fonts look mostly A-OK on my flat-panel iMac.
